Shelby Greenwalt

Shelby will be the first to tell you she never cared for math, which made her decision to major in accounting a real surprise to the people who knew her. A single accounting class at Rend Lake College turned out to be the challenge she had been missing, and the encouragement of instructors there and at the University of Southern Indiana carried her through a bachelor's and then a master's in the field. After a stretch at SS&C Technologies, she joined Matt at Hefley & Associates, where he nudged her to add her Series 7 and 66 registrations and earn her Enrolled Agent designation.

In a small office, no two weeks look alike, and Shelby is happy to take on whatever the day calls for. Tax season keeps her in personal and corporate returns, while the rest of the year leans toward the investment side, from opening accounts to keeping them in good order. The clients she enjoys most are the ones whose accounting, taxes, and investments she handles together, where a single recommendation can shift both a business and its tax bill at once. Outside the office, she and her husband, Jordan, keep a full house with their two kids, Beau and Georgia, and a pair of dachshunds named Lincoln and Rocket, spending summer weekends at the river and, by her own admission, slowly losing a battle with a new embroidery machine.
