She came to the field through her husband, Matt, moving from California to Illinois in 2014 and trading a teaching post at Frontier Community College for a part-time role here before joining full-time in 2016.

Colleagues tend to note how steady she stays when things get tense. Born and raised in Mexico City, she now lives in Mt. Vernon with Matt and their growing family, and she is quick to point out that working beside your spouse and still enjoying it is entirely possible.
